Tile Giant are currently recruiting for an Operations Manager for their 100,000 sq ft Distribution Centre at Fradley Park in Lichfield. Reporting to the General Manager, the Operations Manager will be responsible for the deployment and management of all available colleagues and equipment to achieve the required productivity and service levels within budget and time constraints.
Established in 2003, Tile Giant is the fastest growing tile specialist in the UK with an expanding network of over 300 stores and outlets. To support our growth the DC operates 6 days a week from 6am - 10pm to distribute our globally sourced tile ranges and products to our 109 stores and manage e-commerce fulfilment to customers nationwide.
Role Summary
Carry out any warehouse duties as may be assigned by the Operations Manager.
Lead a group of warehouse operatives, co-ordinating their activities to meet the objectives set by the Operations Manager
Report any operational problems as they arise to the Operations Manager.
Take charge of relevant area of work for short periods of time in the absence of the Operations Manager.
Train and develop colleagues in team to ensure that standards are set and maintained, whilst productivity and quality is achieved.
Act as first point of contact for operational problems encountered by your team.
Liaise with other departments to ensure continuity of information, team building and customer service levels are met.
Attend any training/development sessions when required as part of your own career and personal development.
Ensure that Health & Safety regulations are adhered to.
Operate in accordance with Company Policy, Procedures and legislative requirements.
Any other duties as may be assigned to meet the varying needs of the business.
Role Accountabilities
Work closely with the Management team to deploy & manage resource and equipment to optimise performance.
Ensure the operation meets all requirements by completing each function to the highest standard.
To be responsible for the Health and Safety of yourself and your team by ensuring all tasks are carried out to the relevant procedures by adhering to all safe working practices at all times.
Ensure a high level of communication across shifts and functions.
Support the management team population to support productivity, service and cost improvements across the whole site.
Personal appearance to be maintained at a professional and acceptable standard at all times.
Ensure service failings/risks are escalated to the site manager at the earliest opportunity with reason and rationale to avoid recurrence embedded in discussions.
Manage all system and area housekeeping in line with best practise standards.
Ensure excellent Employee engagement to support improvement results for the site and business.
Adherence to HR policies at all times.

Person Specification
Excellent interpersonal skills
Proven communication skills – internally and externally
Excellent PC skills
Flexible and adaptable to change
What are we looking for
Previous experience of working in a similar role with similar sized teams
Ability to operate Mechanical Handling Equipment (training will be given)
A team player with team management experience
Willingness to adapt and learn new ways of working
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Self motivation, confidence and enthusiasm with a personal drive to achieve set targets and support continuous improvement
Product/range awareness advantageous but not essential
Please note, this role will include the manual lifting and handling of our tiles and products
