All offers are subject to proof of your right to work in the UK and if applicable, background checks.
If you accept our offer we'll agree on a provisional start date and then send you a contract of employment that you can accept electronically (usually within 5 working days)

General queries
How do I find out about vacancies at a new location opening up near me?
If you’re interested in joining our Group and are looking for a new job with us all vacancies will be advertised on our careers site.
If the new location is not yet listed, then this would either mean we’re still finalising the details of our opening date or still looking to confirm that we will build in that particular location.
Do you offer Apprenticeships?
Yes. At Travis Perkins plc the safety of our customers and colleagues is paramount, therefore the starting age for apprenticeship roles in our branches is 18+. So whether you’re looking for a career change, or you’re just starting in your career, go to our Apprenticeships page to discover more.
You can also see answers to the most frequently asked Apprenticeship related questions in the Apprenticeship queries section below.
What support is available for individuals with learning or physical disabilities?
We are continuously improving both our recruitment and operational processes to support individuals with learning or physical disabilities. The goal is to improve accessibility across all aspects of our business.
If you need any support with your application or during the interview stage please contact our team at recruitmentenquiries@travisperkins.co.uk
Do you have any age restrictions?
If you are looking to apply for a job with us, you will need to be 16 years old or ‘minimum school leaving age’. If you are aged between 16 and 18, there are restrictions on what hours we can offer you and for certain roles. Please read the job advert/vacancy information carefully to ensure there are no age restrictions stated.
What's it like to work for you?
Great – but don’t take our word for it! Visit Our stories to find out what colleagues have to say and Working here to see what benefits we offer. And if you’re on social media, you can find out more at #LifeAtTPGroup.
Do you offer flexible working?
We encourage flexibility across our businesses as a way of improving both the service we offer to our customers and the work-life balance of our colleagues.
To achieve this, we encourage our people to take on a number of different roles, so they develop multiple skills and extended knowledge. We also offer a range of flexible working patterns, including part-time contracts and where possible hybrid and/or home-based working, helping to ensure colleagues have more options to balance their work and home lives.
What progression is available?
The development of our people is key to securing the future of our Group and the construction industry more widely. We promote 100s of people internally each year, both within and across teams and businesses within the Group, and with over 1000 apprentices and 40+ apprenticeship programmes and a range of workplace and training opportunities on offer, we are a great career destination.
Development for us is also about providing life skills, including digital skills, maths and English, so we retain existing colleagues, nurture new recruits and build a strong pipeline of talent.
Do you provide visa sponsorship?
Unfortunately, we’re currently unable to help non-UK passport holders get the appropriate visa to work in the UK.
Candidates from the EU, EEA or Switzerland with settled or pre settled status in the UK, or with proof of Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) or Enter (IDE), or with an applicable working visa e.g. Graduate, Youth Mobility Scheme, are eligible.
Please check the UK Government website for further guidance.
Why do some of your jobs require background checks?
Simply put background checks help us protect our business reputation, safeguard colleagues and customers, and/or mitigate any financial risk associated with the responsibilities of the role being recruited.
We also use them to provide assurance that a new colleague is suitably qualified and appropriate for the role to which they are being appointed.
What should I do if I can't find a role that fits my experience and/or requirements?
If you're interested in a vacancy we are currently advertising for but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly, we encourage you to apply anyway.
If you are unable to find a suitable position at present, you have the option to sign up for job alerts whereby our system will alert you via email should a suitable position become available.
Alternatively you can follow this link to join our talent pool. That way, we can get in touch when the right role comes along.
Do you use recruitment agencies?
We try to fill all our vacancies without the help of agencies. But of course, sometimes we do need to use agencies from our preferred supplier list. When this happens, the roles can only be placed with the agencies by our recruitment team.
We review our preferred supplier list regularly, so if your agency would like to provide recruitment services please contact recruitmentenquiries@travisperkins.co.uk with the subject heading ‘Preferred Supplier List Application’ and we’ll keep your details for consideration.
Please note that we DO NOT accept unsolicited CVs.
Application queries
How do I submit an application?
All of our recruitment is processed through our online careers website. Go to our Find a job page, enter a keyword, job title or location in the search bar and click enter. If required, additional filters can be applied to the resulting list of jobs to narrow the options displayed.
Once you’ve found a role that suits your skills, experience and requirements, click ‘Apply’ and follow the online application. You'll be asked to share your details, attach a CV if you have one, and answer a few questions relevant to the role you are applying for.
But if you want to find out more about us first, take a look around our careers site and visit our Group website and business social media channels - we’re on LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Do I have to apply online?
Applying online is faster and more efficient, but if your circumstances make accessing or using the internet difficult please contact our team on recruitmentenquiries@travisperkins.co.uk
Can I apply without a CV?
Our careers site and application processes have been designed so that individuals can apply for a role with us even if they don't have a CV. All you need to do is click on 'Apply now' and select the 'Apply without a CV' option. You then enter the required information to create a brief overview that helps our Hiring Managers understand what you have been doing from a work perspective over a period of time.
It is always handy to have a CV prepared in case you are asked to provide one. Here is a link to the National Careers website to help with CV writing, should you wish to have a go: www.nationalcareers.service.gov.uk/careers-advice/cv-sections
Can I apply for more than one role?
Yes but please think about the type of role that will suit you and your goals, and only apply for appropriate vacancies.
Do you accept applications from individuals with criminal convictions?
Everyone’s circumstances are different, and we consider applications on a case-by-case basis. In the case of a criminal conviction, we’d encourage you to contact our team at recruitmentenquiries@travisperkins.co.uk, who can offer further advice.
What happens after I submit an application?
We’ll review your CV and any other information you've provided. Then we’ll let you know if we want to take it any further. If we do, we’ll likely arrange a phone interview with either a member of our recruitment team or directly with the Hiring Manager who will ask questions about your experience and the skills needed for the job.
The next step will involve meeting the Hiring Manager and a member of the team you could be joining. During the interview, we’ll be looking for examples of your skills and experience to show why you're right for the role. For some roles, we might invite you to another interview to meet with a senior manager or ask you to do a presentation or ability test.
If you're successful, we’ll make you a verbal offer and talk you through all the details. Then we’ll follow up with an electronic contract of employment which is subject to proof of your right to work in the UK and if applicable, background checks.

Apprenticeship queries
Heading
Who can be an Apprentice?
Absolutely anyone can be an Apprentice. At Travis Perkins plc the safety of our customers and colleagues is paramount, therefore the starting age for apprenticeship roles in our branches is 18+. There is no restriction on education or background. The only requirement is that the Apprenticeship programme will allow you to build a new skill set.
How do I apply?
We do all of our recruitment online. Go to the Application queries section above for more information.
Do your Apprenticeships offer genuine qualifications?
Yes. All of our Apprenticeship programmes offer nationally recognised qualifications where you will be awarded either a pass, merit or distinction grade. This reflects the quality of the training you will receive throughout your apprenticeship.
How much will an Apprenticeship cost?
Our programmes will cost you nothing but your time to apply, and put effort into your development. All costs are covered by the Travis Perkins Group, including any travel and accommodation costs that might be necessary.
Heading
What support will I receive whilst I'm on an Apprenticeship?
Your Line Manager will be on hand to coach and support you with any challenges you face on a daily basis, as well as giving you the opportunity to put your skills into practice. You will also be assigned an Apprentice Coach who will visit you once every 3 months as a minimum.
Your Coach will assess your work and make sure you’re on the right track. They are also at the end of the phone if you need any additional support outside of those visits. Our wider Apprenticeship team are also on hand, from Facilitators who deliver the workshop element of your programme to the admin team that manage our programmes day-to-day.
How will I be assessed?
Throughout your programme you will be pulling together a portfolio of evidence that shows all the things you’ve learnt. At the very end of your Apprenticeship, an external provider will come into your place of work, have a conversation with you about your programme and look through your portfolio.
What happens at the end of my Apprenticeship?
The majority of our Apprentices are brought into the business on a permanent contract. At the end of your programme, your progress will be reviewed and you will be moved into a position that suits your current skill set and provides you with an environment that will continue to challenge and develop you.
