Are you an experienced Transport Supervisor or Manager looking for a new challenge or maybe a new sector, then look no further !  We are looking for a Transport manager in our Flagship branch in Salford branch located at Lissadel Street just off the A580. 

Our Flagship branch has a successful Tool Hire department and Benchmarx Showroom, it's busy, we have a footfall of over 140 Trade customers a day, most we know on a first name basis.  With an experienced team of over 30 colleagues and 7 delivery vehicles, this branch has a great atmosphere, where everyone pulls together as a team. Please note that this Flagship branch is relocating to a brand new site in 2023 just 2 miles down the road, and will become our largest TP branch in our North & Scotland region.

We are succession planning and looking for future Assistant Branch Managers, we are also offering Apprenticeships for development if you choose.

Hours - Monday-Friday 7am - 4.30pm and Saturday 8am - 12pm (you will only work 2 in 4)

What will I be doing?
  • People - As Transport / Warehouse Manager you will lead a team of 13, including 6 Yard Assistants, yard Foreman and 7 Drivers.
    • You will motivate, engage and delegate to empower the teams of the yard to work together as one.
    • Ensure that succession planning is being used to drive talent sustainability, coach and mentor direct reports to “rising stars” and management apprentices as required.
    • Being based outside, leading the external yard team, you will be processing our customer orders, loading and unloading customer and company vehicles.
  • Transport - You’ll be responsible for the Compliance and efficient management of the branch transport operation and the improvement of driver standards
    • Responsible for ensuring full compliance for vehicles and drivers, the reporting and management of accidents
    • Meeting agreed Transport/Fleet targets - utilisation and capacity targets
    • Planning / routing deliveries
    • Managing TACHO Compliance with our drivers & Vehicle Compliance to ensure our vehicles are road worthy. 
  • Stay Safe - Safety is at the forefront of everything we do, your aim will be to ensure that our standards never slip, by adhering to all stay safe policies and procedures.  Including checking that Drivers comply with the law and that vehicles are inspected in line with company and governing body procedures
    • Set the tone and champion a Stay Safe culture across the branch at all times promoting a healthy workplace and colleague wellbeing. 
  • Operations - Managing the full operation of the branch yard, ensure that adequate provision is made for customer deliveries, that branch layout is What Great Looks Like standards for safety, storage efficiency, housekeeping, and ability of customers to find products they might want to buy.
    • Working with the whole branch team to ensure great customer service is achieved.
    • Playing a key part in stock management including goods in and out, and stock take.

What experience do you need?
  • Proven experience of managing a small to medium Transport fleet
  • Creates high‐performing, engaged and motivated teams
  • Along with having the ability to provide great customer service and have experience in a similar role, we can teach you the rest.
