Are you working in the Plant/Hire Industry and maybe looking to manage your own department, if so we may have the perfect role for you. We are looking for a Tool Hire Manager to take the reins of our already successful Tool hire department in our Travis Perkins branch in Blackburn.
The Blackburn branch is on King Street, Blackburn, BB2 2DT, this is a busy branch with 18 colleagues and 4 delivery vehicles including 2 tool hire vehicles, we also have a Benchmarx Showroom. Our footfall is around 130 Trade customers a day, most we know on a first name basis, so we have a great customer base. The Branch Manager has created a nice family feel to the branch, where everyone supports one another, we have an experienced team so you will be in good hands.
Our Tool Hire department is really successful and already over budget, not only do we supply hand and power tools we also specialise in the larger equipment including Plant hire. We have a great team, including an Assistant Tool Hire Manager, two driver/fitters and an established customer base.

Hours - 7.30am - 5pm and Saturday’s 8am - 12pm (you will only work 2 in 4 Saturdays) contract. - We are flexible on hours - this can be discussed at the interview stage.

What will I be doing?
No one day is the same as the next in TP branch life, but here are a few pointers:
- Being able to manage all aspects of a Tool Hire department
- To work closely with your Branch Manager and Tool Hire Operations Manager to develop and execute a local sales action plan that delivers above and beyond to achieve and strive to exceed sales and revenue targets on a monthly and annual basis.
- You will be a pivotal contact for our customers, nurturing great relationships, understanding their needs in order to offer expert advice and recommending alternatives and supplementary products to profitably maximise the sale of goods, whilst meeting our customers demand.
- You will be managing a team and will ensure that your department processes including, test and run, servicing and basic repairs to our equipment are up to date and compliant.
- Our success is built on strong relationships with our colleagues and customers so it’s essential you can coach and develop a team to deliver the highest standards of service, managing “rising stars”.
What experience do you need?
Previous Plant/Hire Industry experience or a good understanding of electrical, petrol and diesel equipment, is essential. It doesn't matter what sector you come from, we just need transferable skills - leadership, operational management, sales experience and great customer service.
