What you’ll do

Our in-house team spent decades building and continuously improving our bespoke ERP system, creating competitive advantage which enabled us to win in our markets. More recently we have harnessed the power of more modern technology to add new capabilities and now we’re leaning into the opportunity of modernising key aspects of our Universe ERP platform. 

This is an evolutionary process that’s going to take some time. In some areas, we’re implementing new solutions, migrating and switching off the old code. In other areas we’re enabling functionality embedded in Universe to be accessed via web services to create new or improved customer experiences.

If you join our team of technologists, you will work on optimising, stabilising and modernising our Universe applications. 

You are...

- You are experienced in Universe/Unidata, but you probably don’t know much about Travis Perkins or the applications we use.
- You have demonstrated that you are able to quickly understand how applications hang together.
- You love to get stuck into the details and solve complex problems.
- You are passionate about sharing knowledge and learning from others.
- You work great in teams and respect others. While you care deeply about delivering outcomes, you care equally about the colleagues you work with.
- You’re always curious and eager to learn, conscientious, organised and happy to make decisions.
- You understand the value and cost of technical debt and can both explain and manage it.
- You demand quality from yourself and your team, and are able to work independently.
- If you worked in a retail environment before that’s handy, but not essential.
