City Plumbing Supplies are expanding the team within our Social Housing department and now more than ever is  an exciting time to be joining the Plumbing & Heating (P&H) division as we embark on a transformation journey to create a stronger, efficient and more profitable business. Due to accelerated growth, we have an opportunity for a Pricing Manager to join our team to manage the completion and implementation of all tender pricing for the Social Housing department as well as the ongoing management of customer and framework price files, providing support to the team with commercial activity to drive profitable commercial solutions.  


We are looking for someone to lead and implement a consistent approach to pricing and margin enhancement initiatives. They will need to interpret tender and product data supplied by clients and ensure clarity during a tender process, whilst balancing the requirements for profitable yet competitive commercial bids.  They will also need to ensure that all products quoted are aligned with branch stock and preferred supply chain and maintain commercial pricing of all new business and scheduled price reviews for existing contracts, prioritising workload and meeting relatively short deadlines.


Key features of the role;


  • Support the wider team to develop profitable commercial solutions in order to win new tenders and retain existing contracts. 

  • Review, update and continually improve the systems involved with estimating/pricing, trading margin enhancement and project development processes.

  • Ensure all quotes and tenders are produced in a format and method appropriate to the opportunity.

  • Work in conjunction with the Account Management team to ensure all product and pricing reviews are effectively delivered and on time.

  • Instigate and manage trading margin improvement initiatives, such as claim backs, product switches, consolidation of suppliers, and category growth. 

  • Develop greater product and market awareness of existing and new sectors in order to ensure quotes are comprehensively and competitively priced. 

  • Ensure that price files are communicated to customers and framework providers accurately and on time. 

  • Support the wider team with commercial activities in preparation for a bid submission, financial appraisals and feasibility studies.


What we are looking for:


Someone who has a Comprehensive understanding of the commercial, estimating support functions, with a clear understanding of market prices, and has operated within a relevant commercial environment preferably for 5 years, ideally with public sector bid experience. 


  • Clear and concise Communicator with the ability to relate to a broad spectrum of individuals.

  • Experienced and confident in using Microsoft Excel/Word/Google docs.  

  • Be able to influence others, and self motivated who can work with minimal supervision.

  • A sound knowledge of Data analysis skills, excellent organisational skills with the ability to plan and prioritise individual work and for others. 

  • Be able to problem solve and negotiate. 

  • Previous experience of dealing with suppliers.
