Branch Sales Apprenticeship
Joining our friendly and hard working family as a Customer Service Apprentice, you'll be on the front line dealing with our customers that come into our shop. As part of the branch team, you will play a vital role in our continued success, providing a first class service.
What will I be doing?
Not one day is the same as the next in BSS branch life, but here are a few pointers:
Our success is built on strong relationships with our customers so it’s essential that you can help deliver the highest standards of service - the key thing is to be helpful and friendly at all times, you will likely get to know our customers on a first name basis.
You will be based inside, processing our customer orders, answering the phone, keeping stock and facing up shelves.
You will also be dealing with supplier deliveries and accurately book them in the branch.
Full training is provided to use our systems and a coach will be assigned to help you on your development programme for the first 12 months.
Safety is at the forefront of everything we do, your aim will be to ensure that our standards never slip, this means maintaining a tidy and safe working environment.
This role is based in our BSS Leeds branch, this is a growing team where you are really made to feel at home. With great staff and a great customer base it will be the perfect branch to start your career with us. With a growing team they all get stuck in and help each other out when in busier periods. With the experienced manager Lisa, guiding you on your journey with BSS, what a better place to start?!
My name is Natalie, and I currently work as part of the Recruitment Team here at Travis Perkins, but I started off my career in my local branch when I was 18 completing a development programme, which I then became a Branch Supervisor. Let me tell you more about us, and why you should consider a career with our brilliant business.
Let’s be honest, no one grows up with a burning passion to work in a builders merchant (well, I know I certainly didn't!). I didn't really know what to expect, but since joining, I have been supported by an amazing team that have an unrivalled passion to provide an excellent level of service to our local customers (typically builders and tradespeople) and I’m now working in a completely different area of the business in an area that I love.
As part of your role you will enrol onto a 12 month programme, you will gain a Level 2 Trade Supplier qualification. All of your learning is “on the job”, Travis Perkins values a work-life balance and there is no need for you to complete any of your work “out of hours”. The training consists of a number of modules and you will have a dedicated coach that will guide you throughout, as well as being supported by your line manager (and in my case a really supportive team who I consider to be my friends!)
Just remember you are never too old to start a Development Programme!
Once your development programme is completed you will remain a valued member of the team.
Travis Perkins have a tonne of benefits too:
22 days annual leave, pension, bonus and staff discount (Including 20% off at Toolstation!)
Discounts at various retailers including Currys, Tesco, Boots, John Lewis + many more!
BSS is part of the Travis Perkins plc group. Our group has a number of different businesses under its umbrella meaning plenty of opportunity for internal movement and progression, it’s strongly encouraged here.
