Travis Perkins Managed Services are the leading UK supply chain and procurement solutions partner,  working with social housing providers, contractors, and housebuilders. We are now recruiting a brand new role, Head of Category for Managed Services, to help continue the successful growth of our business.


Reporting directly to Campbell Ettinger, Category Director for Lightside, Plumbing & Heating with a dotted line to Ben Todd, our Managing Director for Managed Services, the successful candidate will join the dots between our Group Commercial function and Managed Services business, aligning our Managed Services customer priorities and our commercial strategies and activities. 


Key Responsibilities


  • Implement Sector Strategies:
    Translate Travis Perkins Managed Services sector strategies into clear, actionable plans that support sustainable growth and efficiency.

  • Optimise Supplier Performance:
    Lead initiatives to improve supplier performance, ensure pricing consistency, and foster innovation through enhanced collaboration with key partners, both internal and external

  • Manage Specialist Product Ranges:
    Oversee the visibility, presentation, pricing, and development of customer-specific products, integrating whole-life costing to secure long-term value.

  • Enhance Supplier Engagement:
    Strengthen supplier engagement frameworks by conducting regular reviews and collaborating with category teams to optimise pricing, contractual agreements, and performance monitoring.

  • Improve Margins and Product Performance:
    Partner with regional teams to develop and implement robust strategies that boost margins, drive sales growth, and enhance product performance across key customers and branches.

  • Champion Sustainability and Compliance:
    Ensure that all product ranges and supplier interactions meet safety standards, compliance requirements, and sustainability objectives.

  • Foster Innovation:
    Lead the identification and launch of innovative, customer-centric products and agile solutions that address evolving market needs.

  • Cultivate Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    Build strong engagement across commercial, regional, and leadership teams to create a cohesive and dynamic business.

  • Drive Continuous Improvement:
    Enhance efficiencies in supplier utilisation, pricing structures, and direct-to-site strategies by minimising non-approved supplier activities.


Who are we looking for?


The successful candidate will be working in a senior leadership role in a commercial environment. Sector experience is not essential, however, is desirable. You’ll be able to demonstrate strong relationship management and stakeholder management skills, and will couple this with excellent commercial acumen. You’ll be a strategic thinker, and visionary in shaping industry trends and leading on market disruption. Our industry is constantly evolving, as are the demands of our customers, so you’ll be adaptable and resilient in navigating complex challenges and leading transformation.
