As a leading distributor of interior building products within the construction industry, drivers at CCF are essential to the smooth running of operations. Our drivers are highly skilled, organised and provide excellent customer service, ensuring the right products are in the right place, at the right time. With a range of over 100,000 materials and items for various customers, it’s no mean feat.
Frankie Sanders is an HGV driver with CCF and having progressed from a van, he loves what he does. Read his story below.
“I’ve always loved driving and have a background in it”
Before joining CCF, Frankie built up experience working as a van driver for Citylink, for a home delivery service, and as a porter/passenger for IKEA. Whilst working through an agency, he first encountered CCF and after his work ethic and skills were noticed by our team, Frankie was asked to apply for a van driver vacancy. The rest is history.
“I like meeting new people and seeing different environments”
There are many reasons to drive for a living . Frankie is genuinely passionate about driving and the opportunities it gives him to meet new people. He also enjoys being challenged and testing himself, which is important in a driver role where no two days are the same and every customer has different requirements. Within the Travis Perkins group, our people are self-motivated to build their own relationships with customers and stakeholders, and the success of our business relies on this.
“My workday starts fairly early”
Frankie is at work at 6am, where he starts his day by greeting colleagues, completing the crucial vehicle checks, and planning his route. He’ll call customers ahead of arriving at their premises, and whilst he is dropping off the products, he enjoys having a chat with them. After offloading the goods, he’ll get a customer signature via the Electronic Proof of Delivery System (EPOD), before heading back to base.
On some days, Frankie has re-loads to do, so he’ll pack up straight away and head out to the next customer. Once all the drops are completed, he’ll clean his lorry, do the end-of-day checks, load and strap for the next day, chat to his colleagues in the office and then head home to his family.
“My time outside work is spent with my children”
Our values lay the foundations for all that we do, and ‘Upholding family values’ is a key Cornerstone. We like to make sure that our drivers have a good work/life balance, so we’ve made sure their hours reflect the branch opening hours, meaning no over nights stays or late evenings.
With three kids, Frankie’s spare time is filled with long walks with the dog and heading to the coast, soaking up as much family time as possible.
