What first attracted you to the apprenticeship programme?
“My previous employer was an Apprenticeship provider and I got to witness first-hand how beneficial apprenticeships could supercharge people’s careers. As someone who is ambitious and keen to progress, this is what caught my attention.
Since I’ve begun my apprenticeship, I’ve made a conscious effort to say YES to every opportunity at Travis Perkins and can confidently say I’ve grown as an individual and have made strides in my career.”

How have you been supported throughout the programme and beyond?
“My line manager, branch manager and team have been extremely helpful in answering my endless stream of questions.
Everyone in the Travis Perkins Group works together to share knowledge and support one another so we can learn and grow together.
My apprenticeship coach and I have regular 1:1s to ensure I am on the right track and happy with how everything is going. Phil is always on hand and has made a big impact on my time at Travis Perkins.”

What’s your favourite thing about being on an Apprenticeship programme with LEAP?
“I really enjoy the structure of the Apprenticeship as I am able to work alongside gaining my qualification. I am able to apply the knowledge I learn in my day-to-day role and turn that knowledge into skills. I’m given the freedom to figure out how to do things in my own way.”
How has the programme set you up for success?
“The programme has not only given me confidence in myself and my decision-making skills but also made me aware of just how helpful and supportive my colleagues are.”

What has been your proudest moment since starting?
“Since joining the Travis Perkins Group I have learned about a whole new industry, about thousands of products and found new ways of working. I can honestly say I have never been happier and my work-life balance is great.
I feel secure in my job and I am being given the opportunity to develop myself and forge my own career path. I’ve also been instrumental in shaving off over £700k of stock holding in the branch.”

“Stop thinking about it and just do it!”
