Jan Bancyzk is a Driver/Warehouse Assistant at BSS, part of the Travis Perkins Group, and he plays a crucial role in our business operations.

“I arrived in the UK seven years ago”
After emigrating to the United Kingdom, Jan worked in several warehouse roles before joining BSS Brentford – a leading distributor of pipeline and heating solutions. He’s well and truly settled in the branch now, with five years under his belt.
A couple of years ago, an opportunity arose to participate in the Warehouse to Wheels Scheme, which put Jan on the road to becoming a driver at BSS. Now in his dual role, he balances warehouse responsibilities with driver deliveries across London.
Through BSS, Jan also gained his HGV licence, which has allowed him to progress further and opened up even more new opportunities. Now as a Driver / Warehouse Assistant, Jan is qualified to drive lorries and vans that weigh up to 16.5 tonnes.
“The best thing about my job is that every day is different”
The nature of Jan’s dual role means that he works on different tasks every day, with new challenges to overcome and skills to develop. He’s proud of the high level of responsibility placed on him and loves any opportunity to learn new things, something which he says BSS and the Travis Perkins Group help him to achieve. We’re always keen to help motivated colleagues to progress.
“My typical day always starts with a coffee!”
After a caffeine boost, Jan will check and prepare his truck for the day, pick up any paperwork he needs and get ready to go. With several deliveries scheduled around London on any given day, he must plan and manage his time carefully to ensure no customers are kept waiting. Our drivers develop excellent communication skills which allows them to naturally build their own relationships with customers whilst making deliveries.
After completing his scheduled deliveries, Jan returns to his office branch, finalises paperwork and catches up with his team.
“I’m a big fan of new and emerging technologies”
We believe there are lots of positive reasons to drive for a living, including a good work/life balance. We’ve made sure our drivers’ schedules reflect the branch opening hours, so no over nights stays or late evenings, ensuring our people can enjoy their personal time and pursue their passions.
Outside of work, Jan continues his love of learning by staying on top of new technology trends and enjoys using a 3D printer to create projects to use around his house. He’s also a fan of board games and spending time with friends.
